Leah Vail Compton
Associate Director of Client Services

 

Before joining AMC, Leah was the State Certified Community Behavioral Health Center Coordinator at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration. She served as a public health advisor/project officer and lead managing state and clinic level grants and contracts that supported community behavioral health systems for adults and youth with mental health/co-occurring substance misuse and criminal/juvenile justice involvement.

Prior to joining SAMHSA, Leah was the State of Florida Forensic Liaison at the Florida Department of Children and Families Headquarters and was responsible for the state system of care involving youth and adults at the intercept of mental health and criminal justice. In this role, she developed, implemented and hired a statewide team to reduce the incarceration rates of individuals with mental illnesses.

Previous to her work at Florida DCF, Leah was the Vice President of Forensics at Meridian Behavioral Healthcare where she operationalized and managed the Forensic Program covering a 12-county area with a team of 23 staff. During her time as VP, the Forensic Program received the prestigious national award for Excellence in Behavioral Health Management from The National Council for Mental Wellbeing.

Leah earned her MBA from St. Leo University, MA from National Louis University and BA from New Mexico State University. Leah loves spending time with her husband and two boys.
