Juan F. Kanagui
Lead Consultant

 

Juan brings over 16 years of experience to nonprofit organizations, serving as both an organizational leader and consultant. His current role at AMC is the Associate Director of Nonprofit Services, and he has been with the organization since March 2020. At AMC, Juan works with a portfolio of Bay Area nonprofit clients serving Black and Latinx populations, with a focus on education, social services, and the environment. Before joining AMC, Juan was the Director of Institutional Partnerships at Mission Graduates and the Director of Development at the Mission YMCA in SF.

Juan earned his Master of Science in Fundraising Management and a Business Certificate from Columbia University in 2015. He was a Gates Scholar and earned a BA in English from UC Irvine in 2004. Currently, Juan is on the Leadership Council of the Bay Area Men’s Giving Circle for the Latino Community Foundation and serves on the fundraising committee as a board member for the Global Academy for Community-Based Education.

Born in Mexico, Juan immigrated to California's Central Valley at the age of 4. In his free time, Juan enjoys writing poetry and fiction, playing chess, and golfing.
